Karlovy Vary, in western Bohemia, is the most visited spa town in the Czech Republic, and is absolutely unique in the number of curative hot springs in the world. It is the site of 13 hot springs and the warm-water Teplá River. It was named after Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, founder of the city in 1370.
